What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the science, art, and philosophy with a unique approach of looking at the cause of dis-ease not just the treatment of symptoms.

A chiropractor examination is targeted at the spine with a "hands-on" approach to the assessment of the spine and its contiguous structures of the spine.

Chiropractors are often thought of as back or bone doctors, however, they are more specifically evaluating the nervous system. The nervous system is the master controller that regulates every cell, tissue, organ, and systems of the body. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, and 31 pairs of spinal nerves. Each of these spinal nerves exits the spinal cord between the vertebrae at specific levels from the base of the skull to the coccyx (tailbone). Chiropractors assess the spine thoroughly because it is the vertebral bones that move out of position, that pinch the spinal nerve (like a kink in a garden hose) which interrupts the transmission of nerve impulses or messages to and from the brain. This interruption to the nervous system circuit is called a Subluxation.

This can be explained by the Safety Pin Cycle Diagram below:

Pin 1: Nerve signals travel to and from the brain to regulate every cell, organ, and tissue in the body.

Pin 2: Subluxations in your spine disrupt the nerve signals. The body's ability to function and heal itself is diminished. Health challenges will result over time.

Pin 3: Adjustment - Chiropractors find subluxations and correct hem with adjustments to reconnect your brain with your body so your health can return.

Pin 4: Normal flow resumes...health returns
